February ’08 News

We were all very shocked to hear of the sudden death of Fr. Michael Nolan, parish priest of the Enniskeane and Desertserges RC parish, on 7th January. He was a good friend to us and good colleague to work alongside ecumenically. We had recently shared and enjoyed a happy Christmas Carol service at St Mary's Desertserges. The Rector and he had enjoyed a chat on another occasion just before Christmas. He will be missed throughout the community.

Our sympathies are with Hess Buttimer on the death of her brother Tom Deane.

I know Christmas is now a long time ago but a public thank you to all who made the Christmas services special - especially those who got the churches ready in different ways for the Midnight and Christmas morning, all the readers and intercessors, chalice bearers; making my role so much easier. A big thank you to Caroline Foggarty and many others for organising and leading the Christingle Service on the 30th December. As a Union we enjoyed the Covenant Service with the Methodist congregation on the 6th January.

Every little bit counts! The Bandon Art Group presented Friends of St Mary's Desertserges with the proceeds from their recent exhibition at Hosford's Geranium and Garden Centre.
